Biography

Edwin Emmanuel Udoh, professionally known as EGREAT JAZZ, is a Nigerian pianist and vocalist whose musical journey began in the church. From an early age, the church served as his foundation—shaping his discipline, musical sensitivity, and deep connection to live performance. It was there that he honed his skills on the piano, refined his vocal expression, and learned the power of music as a tool for storytelling, worship, and emotional connection.

As his artistry developed, EGREAT JAZZ expanded into the professional music world, performing across diverse platforms and cultivating a unique sound that blends Afro-Jazz, Nigerian Hip-Pop, Salsa, Blues, and contemporary jazz influences. His music reflects a seamless fusion of African heritage with global rhythms, harmonies, and improvisation.

EGREAT JAZZ strengthened his musical foundation through formal education, studying Music at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria. His academic training deepened his understanding of music theory, composition, and performance, complementing his practical experience on both local and international stages.

A major turning point in his career came in 2021, when he began traveling internationally as a professional musician. That year marked the start of his global journey, performing aboard MSC Cruise Ships, where he connected with audiences from diverse cultures and refined his live performance skills.

In December 2023, EGREAT JAZZ presented his first major concert titled “The Beauty of Afro-Jazz”, showcasing his musical identity and creative vision. The concert celebrated Afro-Jazz as a powerful blend of African rhythm, jazz harmony, and contemporary expression, marking his growth from a performing musician to a bandleader and curator of musical experiences.

Today, EGREAT JAZZ continues to evolve as an artist, bridging church-rooted musicianship, academic excellence, and international professional performance. His music reflects a journey of faith, culture, growth, and global exploration—connecting audiences worldwide through rhythm, melody, and authentic expression.
